| I acquired an 1970 Colt SP1 20" with a 3 prong flash hider serial#SP1545**. The Rifle is about 95% condition. It came with two 20 round colt mag's. Any idea what it is worth? It's really nice, just not my thing. I probably list on the ee forum. I checked gunbroker and the prices are all over the place. Any input would be appreciated. |

Check the serial number. The first "1" is part of the serial number. The number SP 1545* would be a 1970. The number SP 1545** would be a 1982. A 1970 would be one of the last with a three prong so I'm thinking you just added an extra digit to the serial number. However, if you didn't someone probably put a three prong on a 1982.
$1000 would be a pretty decent price for a 1970. About average for a 1982. The retro forum would be good place to post a picture or two if you have any questions about the date or if any modifications were made to the rifle. |

A 1970 should be marked "Colt's Patent Firearms Mfg. Co.", whereas a 1982 will be marked "Colt Industries, Firearms Division". |
