Colt, daniel defense, spikes, bcm, and others make as close to mi-spec as possible.

I was going to add other then the obvious things we can't have, of course.

There are commercial products which EXCEED military specifications. Why would you want something shittyer?

You can have almost anything you want. It is just going to cost you.

You know, cuz the mil-spec is the mil-spec...it's gotta be good.

If it doesn't have a "happy switch" it's not mil-spec!

Yep. Do you want the minimum or something that exceeds it?

Even having a "happy switch" doesn't make it mil-spec.

No offense, but if you are asking this question it likely means it would be helpful for you to do more research as to what the term "mil spec" entails as it relates to an AR rifle (and there is plenty of info right here on this site!).  It helps to know what mil spec is and what it means before you determine which aspects of it are important to you.

Getting "mil spec" just for the sake of being able to say "its mil spec" does not make sense imho.

I want something that is AT LEAST the minimum. That's the key here. While there are some that exceed the military requirements there are FAR MORE that are well below.

Some manufactures follow the guidelines that the military rifles do.  They build their products to a repeatable standard.

Some manufacturers build rifles to a standard that exceeds the standards of the first group.  But usually there are only a few areas that are improved on and depending on what you are doing those improvements may not make one bit of difference.

Some manufactures throw together there rifles with whatever parts they can source.  They follow no real standard, no real specs.  The bulk of rifles on the market fall into this category.

Spikes,Colt,BCM.LMT. I problably forgot a couple but stick with these and you should have a fine AR15.

There are no civilian guns that are mil-spec. The civilian version of "milspec" i've termed industry standard.

Milspec includes all aspects of the guns according to the DOD technical data package, which even civilian colts can't be built from.

But some, like Colt, try to adhere as closely as they can for semi auto rifles, right?
Course is parkerizing under the sight or even the barrel steel necessarily relevant?
