Who actually makes a true mil spec ar for the general public? No offense, but if you are asking this question it likely means it would be helpful for you to do more research as to what the term "mil spec" entails as it relates to an AR rifle (and there is plenty of info right here on this site!). It helps to know what mil spec is and what it means before you determine which aspects of it are important to you. Getting "mil spec" just for the sake of being able to say "its mil spec" does not make sense imho. |

Quoted: Quoted: There are commercial products which EXCEED military specifications. Why would you want something shittyer? Yep. Do you want the minimum or something that exceeds it? I want something that is AT LEAST the minimum. That's the key here. While there are some that exceed the military requirements there are FAR MORE that are well below. |

Some manufactures follow the guidelines that the military rifles do. They build their products to a repeatable standard.
Some manufacturers build rifles to a standard that exceeds the standards of the first group. But usually there are only a few areas that are improved on and depending on what you are doing those improvements may not make one bit of difference. Some manufactures throw together there rifles with whatever parts they can source. They follow no real standard, no real specs. The bulk of rifles on the market fall into this category. |
