I'm new here to the AR platform.  I have a noob question.  When I chamber a round and then eject it (without firing) the bullet jacket is scarred up a little.  I looked at the feed rams and don't see any obvious burrs etc.  Kinda hard to see in the picture and I would say that it is a little worse than what shows up in the pic.

Rifle bought new about a week ago and has 310 rounds through it.

Is this normal?

Its normal.

When the round is being extracted the bullet scrapes the lugs on its way out, if u hold the cartridge as u pull the charging handle out, makingsure it stays straight on its way out it wont get scratched

Yes it is normal.

When you extract the live round, the ejector cams the bullet against the barrel extension and scratches it. The scratches are not there when you chamber the round...they are created during extraction.

Also, sooner or later you're going to notice a little dent on the primers of rounds you cycled, but didn't fire. This is normal as well, due to inertia and the AR's free floating firing pin.

And you may also notice a little dent in the side of your brass 1/3 from one end.
Its perfectly normal for ARs to dent up brass as they eject it.
