After having my first black rifle (sp6920) for only a few months I'm ready to get a second one. I was going to order the PSA upper kit but they are now out of stock. Is there another kit similar to the PSA one in price and quality or should I just hold out for them to come back in stock? thanks ahead of time for any help.

In features for the money department, you will want to wait for PSA.

Can you expand on that remark?  I know PSA has great CS but I'm curious if you think they have a better BCG and charging handle or better barrels? What features are worth waiting on?

I don't consider this a hi-jack, it fits into OP's question.

I can't pull up the full description since it's out of stock, but if memory serves for $399 you get:

Chrome lined barrel - others charge extra for
MP tested Bolt and carrier - others charge extra for or don't even offer
4150 barrel - neither here nor there if you're not really worried about the barrel steel, but if you're looking for 4150, this has it.
Wasn't the shipping and handling fairly low? Not the $22 range others charge.
Wasn't the FSB F marked? Can't remember.
1/7? I think?

Anyway, they put a bunch of "extras" in for a price many others couldn't match stripped down. Not that it's the Holy Grail of uppers, but the closest thing I've seen is the JSE deal at $350 - plain jane BCG, no front sight, no chromed barrel, etc.

PSA must have had a big run on their complete upper assemblies to be out of most of them.

They still show their new complete 16" barrel carbine kits instock.

Complete except for a stripped lower at $479 with standard furniture, or $529 with Magpul MOE (handguards, pistolgrip, trigger guard, and MOE stockl.

That's less than most companies charge for a barreled upper receiver.

If you want to start a new weapon with waiting, jump over to the PSA website and take a look.

Looks like I'm going to wait for the PSA to come back. Sucks cause I pulled a few extra jobs over the weekend to cover the costs the when I go to order and there all gone . I love my 6920 but I'm now wanting KISS one to keep in my truck at all times and the PSA deal looked like the way to go. I'm addicted!

Second row, opposite ends. Both 4150

PSA 14.5'' Midwest 5C1 Upper

A complete upper to bolt to your lower.  Includes a 9" free float rail, permanently attached 5C1 flash hider, Charging Handle, and Bolt Carrier Group.

Barrel: 14", MPI 4140 Steel, M4 profile, 5.56 NATO chamber with a 6-groove, 1:7 right hand twist, chrome-lined, lead-lapped and air-gauged bore, carbine-length gas port, and M4 feedramps. Barrels are finished off with a taper pinned,[ /quote]

The only ones shown with steel details show 4140, not 4150, and the other PSA uppers do not state what steel is used, I remember when they had the other uppers in stock that they were listed as 4140 also, both of the uppers you speak of in the second row do not say anything about 4150 as far as  I can see, show me where it says so, maybe I missed it.

Check this link.  According to this industry forum post from PSA the barrel is 4150.  You may want to call to confirm before ordering.

Yep, sounds like some barrels they offer are 4140, and some are 4150, have to assume if they are not listing it as 4150, it is probably 4140.

LOL, I was looking in the "more info", not in the title, a few listed uppers are listed as 4140.

Not all of their uppers are, like I said, some are, some aren't,

16" 5.56 Mock Disapator CL 4140

Just heard back from PSA
here is what they said:

We have had both barrels offered on our uppers. If the barrel is 4150, we predominatly state it in the product description. In the future we are hoping to offer all models in 4140, 4150 and hammer forged.

Thanks,
Jamin
