I just traded my ar10 for a new carbine. I havent ever had one before an i must say i love it. The fit between it is super tight and everything functions great, only thing is the trigger. It is just the stock stag trigger, and it feels like it is set to about 10lbs and has about a mile of travel. Is there a good way to take some of the travel out or should i just look into getting a new trigger group? If so what are your reccomendations?

Best bang-for-the-buck is the Rock River NM, IMO. But if you have the money, go with a Geiselle.  Geiselle

The newly released Geissele S2S trigger ($125) is scheduled to put the hurt on the RRA trigger sales.
The new best bang for the buck trigger is here and it's what I what recommend to the OP instead of trying to "improve" a crappy trigger.

Geissele S2S

I'm not sure why some need to mess with the triggers.  I have 3 builds & have stock triggers. They all brake the same & feel the same. I have no problems with them.

To put it mildly, the stock trigger sucks.  Try something better and you'll see what everyone is talking about.

I run the SSA and several other slick triggers, but I will say that if you learn to be a great shooter and proper trigger manipulation while using the stock trigger, you will invariably be an even better shooter once you go to an aftermarket trigger than if you just jump to one right away.  Just something to think about.

Stock/mil spec trigger FTW.

The stock trigger in my CMMG M4LE has almost 0 travel, and a nice clean break. It's a little heavier, but I don't really care with how little it moves before breaking.

Well on all my longer range stuff i have always used a jp trigger, so i may look into them. Or as you all said, along with one of my buddies the ssa sounds like the way to go
