I have a RR 2-stage trigger on my long range AR.  I don't like the heavy second stage weight or the first stage travel and would like to go to a single stage like on a bolt action.  I hear Geisselle triggers seem to be the shizzits but can't figure out which one is a single stage.
Anybody know which one off the top of your head?  How does it compare to the cheaper Timney trigger?

I was faced with the same question a while back.  Went with the 3lb Timney and I love it.  Never fired the Geissele, but I have no complaints with the Timney.  I believe you have to go with the 3-Gun or the Super Dynamic 3-Gun models to get true single stage.

I think you would want the match rifle from Geisselle. It is a very light two stage. From their literature, it can be adjusted so both stages add up to less pull weight than the Timney.  Match

Chip McCormick, Timney, JP, and the OEM trigger are all single stage affairs.

I have this KIES in my youngest girls AR  and I give it a thumbs up. My oldest Girl decided to tag along and shoot for the first time. She plinked with the 17HMR for starters and then we talked her into  shooting the AR. I was very surprised to see her do well on the steel plate @ 100 and her group was decent, I have to give some of the credit for her accuracy to the trigger.

They also have a 4.5lb version  and shipping is free for orders over $90, hard to beat.

Better? Hard to say as the Geissele is a 2-stage and the others are single stage.
Quite a bit of difference.

First, if you desire a trigger similar to a Timney...none of the Geissele offerings are like it - including the S3G.  The S3G does have some trigger movement prior to letting the hammer fall. However, they do consider this a single stage as there is no take up with a distinct stop (like a 2 stage) then a little more trigger pressure thereby releasing the hammer. The Geissele triggers are fantastic though, including the S3G - it's not like a bolt rifle trigger though (like the Timney or a JP). Here's what I have for AR Triggers in my weapons - I like variety for different types of shooting applications. This is also my best interpretation & description of each trigger in terms of how they each feel.

2 - Geissele Hi-Speed Match Triggers - both set up @ 3lbs total (2 Stage) - really light take up, stop, really light trigger pressure - Boom!
2 - Geissele SSA-E Triggers - both set up @ 3.5lbs (2 Stage) - light take up, stop, light trigger pressure - Boom!
2 - Geissele S3G Triggers - both set up @ 3.5+lbs (Single Stage) - light take up.......Boom!
2 - Timney 3lb Competition Triggers (Single Stage) - 0 take up, 0 creep...slight trigger pressure - Boom!
1 - Timney 3lb Skeletonized Trigger (Single Stage) - 0 take up, 0 creep...slight trigger pressure - Boom!
1 - JP 3lb Reliability Enhanced Trigger (Single Stage) - 0 take up, 0 creep...slight trigger pressure - Boom!
1 - RRA NM 4.5lb Trigger (2 Stage) - take up, stop, light trigger pressure - Boom!

Cheers,

The S3G is single stage, but it has what I call a "rolling release."

That is good or bad depending on how you want things set up. For most 3-Gun shooters, the reset is more critical than the trigger pull itself.

Another +1 but I have this one with the flat trigger.

Geissele calls the S3G a 'derivative' of their SSF two-stage with a 'feel' of a smooth single stage  Wouldn't a single stage trigger have or be one of the shortest resets possible?

If you want a trigger like a bolt gun - JP.  I've tried them a few times and just ordered my own this week for use in my 3-gun.

Timney is good and I like it on my long range rifle but my understanding is that they are good for sniper work, not so much for speed/3-gun.

It will be used for benchrest shooting at varmints.  I'm thinking the Timney might be what i need.  I just can't get used to the pretravel with the RR trigger and the second stage seems pretty stiff.

Jewell's can be made really light and are almost infinitely tuneable.

Saying they're a pain in the ass to install is an understatement.

I have had the Bushmaster two stage ,Rock River two stage, and the Giselle ssa and ssa-e . Of them all I like the ssa-e best . I like two stage triggers and the ssa-e has a nice first stage and the second is light and sharp .Just right in my OP .
