I was wondering if anyone has used a hydraulic recoil buffer in their AR?  Do they really work and are they worth the money?

IMO a waste of money unless your shooting full auto, then it just slows down the cycle rate, just get a heavier buffer like a H2

Quoted:
The reason you dont want bolt bounce is for "not firing" on full auto because the bounce of the BCG casues the FP not to hit.

Agreed.  Whether it was by intent or not, it is virtually impossible for the AR platform to fire out of battery.

The hydraulic buffer adds unecessary complexity to what should be a very simple part. When you add complexity you tend to reduce reliability. Putting the out of battery nonsense aside I am assuminmg you goal is not rate reduction. If it is, then go with a heavier buffer (H2,H3).

The issue besides decreased reliability with a hydraulic buffer is they make charging your gun and failure drills much more difficult. Compressing that dashpot the last half inch is much more difficult than moving a standard buffer.
