Nope.
I ahve shot ALOT of 5.56 and never needed one.
I did buy one a couple years ago and put it in my parts/tool kit.
Maybe that is the insurance I needed..

No but I have them in 5.56 and .308 just in case..rather have it than not if it ever is needed.

I've used them several times over the years.
On old military surplus ammo it is almost a necessity you have one handy.
I've most recently used on on an Encore 308 where a piece of once fired Federal brass separated in the chamber.

I didn't have to use one, a knife got this guy out!
This happened during a match too. I saw the case head eject, so I assumed the front of the case went out too. Bad assumption!
