I just purchased an upper in the EE and I'm not sure what it is. It is a 14 1/2 inch  with affixed Phantom. The receiver is white t marked, doesn't have M4 cuts and has the broken A forge mark. The barrel is govt profile, chrome lined and stamped 5.56 NATO-1/9- CMV. The bore is chrome lined and the front sight is F marked

Broken "A" is the Cardinal Forge marking I believe if memory serves right....very good quality, as all uppers for the military are from what I have seen.  I work on them as a contractor and see all types of markings.  Good deal!

Edited:  after posting and moving on, I realized the screwup....oh well, everybody is entitled to at least 1 per day!

no it's not, cardinal forge is a little cardinal head

broken a is anchor harvey.

really the forge means very little, it's who did the final machining, finishing, and assembly, which is near impossible to tell from a forge code.

as for the barrel, i'm not sure who uses that rollmark, maybe stag arms?

I've never seen a Stag govt profile carbine.

Stag 2H is a gov't profile carbine. 16", 1/9, 5.56, chrome lined. I don't remember them marking the barrels CMV though.

Every 2H I've seen was an M4 profile barrel.

I've searched and searched but can't seem to find anything that matches the configuration and barrel markings.

Saber Defense?

I think they sell barrels marked with that.

I've always seen government and M4 profile used interchangeably for 14.5/16" barrels

my sabre has a weird rollmark, similar to the colt MPC bolt marking, it looks like a dot matrix printer, the sabre also has a lot # on it

Just called Stag and they said it's definitely NOT their upper or barrel.

Sounds like an early Sabre defense BRL in a CMT upper as sold by various upper assemblers.  At one point PK firearms sold brld uppers where they would mate a phantom to a 14.5 brl and a CMT upper. I bought a "bushmaster" upper from them like that. Well built uppers for sure, but not factory.

CMV is Chrome Moly Vanadium.  Probably Sabre.
