Just wondering if there a way to lighten the trigger pull on my AR.  It's an Olympic Arms CAR-15 10.5/5.5.  Nothing special about the trigger group just a little heavy.  Wondering if there's a way to lighten the trigger pull without replacing it.

Absolutely, get a trigger job done.

I'll be the first to say replace it with a trigger designed to be smoother, despite what the diy crowd says. You could pay someone to fiddle with it or do it yourself but in the end it will wear faster and you'll ruin one fcg and have to buy another one.

No.  Don't let anyone near you weapon offering to do a "trigger job".  Either deal with it or ante up for a drop in replacement like a Geissele.

To each his own.  I didn't suggest he try to do it himself because if he knew how he obviously wouldn't be asking.  A person with experience doing trigger jobs on AR triggers can make a significant improvement on the factory junk.  Obviously it's the more popular option to buy a drop in replacement because it's easier (albeit more expensive).  OP, if you do buy a drop in replacement the upshot is you will have an extra trigger group in your spare parts bin.

+1 Leave it alone

But a little bit of grease in the right spot will smooth things out. Another thing to consider is that your trigger will "break in" some the more you fire it, even dry firing helps. My last LMT had a terrible feeling trigger out of the box but some synthetic grease and a few hundred rounds later and it is quite nice for what it is.

Hey, here's a crazy thought.

How about you learn to use your trigger as is and just leave it alone.

Perhaps so, but at the expense of the case hardening on the trigger parts.  Considering its olympic arms, I would agree that the factory stuff is, indeed, junk.  Swap that lpk with a DD or Colt and I bet there would be no issues.
