Found this guy on internet Bill Springfield at triggerworks.net. He does a 4lb trigger for 39.00. He will also do a 3lb for 54.00, 2.5 for 59.00. I was wandering if anybody has used him or knows someone who has. You send him your trigger springs hammer and all the componets, he reworks them for you. Just wandering if this guy was worth sending my trigger parts to. I'm just tired of the 8lb trigger on my AR-15. Any help would be helpful guys. thanks

| He has a good reputation but I do my own triggers using various springs for the most part and quality FCG parts. Before I paid someone I think I'd apply that same money to a decent adjustable name brand trigger. I also prefer mine in the 4 1/2 to 5 1/2 range. Guess it depends on what you are doing with the rifle/carbine and personal preference. His turn around is supposedly pretty fast and good customer service. Most I know used them for a better experience than stock pull and then sold them and moved on to better stuff. To me it's just getting used to a desired pull and then adapting that same feeling to different rifles/carbines. |

is a regular lower parts kit trigger really around 8lbs ?
well i couldnt pull the trigger on buying a trigger yet so i purchased the JP spring set for 14 bucks shipped, hopefully arrives tomorrow, i guess they claim it will lower the pull to 4lbs on a standard trigger. |

I have a trigger done by him and I like it. You'll read some good and some bad reviews from people about reliability issues. FWIW Bill garantees his work if something breaks. Depending on the guns role this may or may not be a problem. My trigger is approaching 1000 rounds fired and still as nice as day 1.
Budget option 2 is to buy a set of reduced power springs from jprifles.com and it will get the pull weight down to 3-4 lbs. I have also done this and it works well and its cheap. Budget option three is the spikes battle trigger.(do a search on this) I have not personally tried one but have read many good reviews about it. You can also use it with the jprifle.com springs and see what pull weight you like best. just my .02 |

I was going to send in my trigger to Bill but thought it wise to do a little research on him. I read on the the m4carbine forum that his work USED to be pretty good but it seems his reputation is now going to hell in a handbag with reports of very shoddy workmanship with triggers coming back doing doubles and even triples. He is NOT a "Certified" gunsmith. He admitted that he learned his stuff from "tinkering" with his own weapons. Do NOT send this person any work.
I hear the Wilson combat triggers are very good but pricey at about $270 –– I did a lot of reaserch and tomorrow my Geissele Super Dynamic Combat Trigger #913739 for $170.00 should be arriving. http://www.midwayusa.com/viewproduct/?productnumber=913739 |

I don't have any other performance AR trigger to compare it to, but dang, it feels good. Didn't realize how long I had been "testing" it until my wife said "You've been making that clicking sound for 15 minutes. How long do you plan to keep doing it?" |

I was looking at the Spikes Tactical Battle Trigger for $60. It has quite a few favorable reviews on blogs and forums. It is a single stage that supposedly typically yields a 5-6 lb. trigger.
However, I struck it from my "to buy" list because eventually I'd like to attend some carbine courses, and prevailing wisdom for carbine courses is "stick with a factory trigger". |

It is a factory trigger. Its just has a coating on it to make it slicker. |

Bill Springfield does good work, but some people have gotten their triggers back from him with the hardening shaved off. That's going to make their triggers fail quicker than they would otherwise. Bill is known outside arfcom land, BTW. His work is highly regarded.
Personally, I've gone to Geiselle. The SSA is going into every new AR I build. I have a Spike's battle trigger as well. It's fine. Not in the same ballpark as Bill's or Geiselle's, but I'd definitely choose it over any factory trigger. |

All my AR's have one of two trigger configurations:
1.) My target/ varmint/ accurate/ scoped ARs have Timney triggers. They rock. 2.) My Tactical/ bump in the night/ shtf/ CQB ARs all have Colt FCGs with Davind Tubbs Chrome Silicon reduced power springs. You'd be surprised how sweet a GOOD FCG with GOOD springs can be. - AG |
| Have had 4 triggers done by Bill. 2 of them keep doubling.I tried to remedy the situation as per his instructions, but had no luck. I thought I had fixed the one, but running drills last night the disconnector captured the trigger and wouldn't reset. I just received the other one back from him today because I couldn't get it to function (as per his instructions). After the repair and re-installation it also got captured by the disconnector. I know it is not the lower, because it was installed in two different receivers. I think if you want to take a chance, just have him polish the surface to smooth things out but not lighten the pull and definitely no lighter the 4.5 lbs. By the way one trigger was from a DPMS kit (I did opt for the speed hammer, don't) and the other came out of a Bushy. So maybe this was just a case of polishing a turd! I just got a Spikes nickel-boron and it feels pretty good , however I haven't run it yet. It may be inexpensive alternative. Next trigger will be a Geiselle. I am in no way trying to bad mouth Bill, just stating the facts. |

In the past, I couldn't justify the expense, but after I bought my first DMR.... I "got it". You will not be disappointed. My favorite is the SD3G. |
