I am doing a low profile gas piston build.  I am using a A2 front sight as the gas block that I chopped down to fit under the rail system I am using.  I got the sight off of a Rock River heavy barrel and it is going on a Bushmaster heavy barrel.  Are these sights not interchangeable?  The gas block will not go back far enough on the barrel to line up the pin holes.  Any input and thank you.

Sight bases are drilled uniquely to each barrel, which means that fitting a sight base off of one barrel to another will more than likely not work.

Great idea until you got to this part.
Once drilled and pinned the FSB and barrel become a unique, matched set, as 86 said.
If the Bushmaster FSB is not available you may have to go with an aftermarket lo-pro gas block.

I have a low profile on it right now.  I want a pinned block on so the piston does not beat it off the gas hole.  I didn't ask for the original front sight back when I had the low profile put on at the gun shop, oh well.  I think I am going to go with a shorter barrel anyways, so I will just have to chop the sight that comes with that barrel, unless anyone else has any ideas.

I would email ADCO and tell them that you want a pinned, lo-pro gas block.
Tell them what you have for parts and that the barrel has been drilled previously.
They may be able to make something good happen.
