I love the pelican cases for flying with a carbine. I know the rifle is well protected from the baggage throwers so they are a worthwhile investments. However once you cut the foam to fit a specific firearm then its pretty much only usefull for that one specific firearm and if you change the configuration of the firearm later you need to buy and cut new foam.
After swapping out some optics on a carbine it no longer fit the case I bought for that carbine. Replacement foam was $35.00 with shipping I did what I should have been doing all along. I threw away the foam. My Eagle industries M4LE soft case is a perfect fit inside the Pelican 1700 case. Plus now I don't have to lug around that pig of a hard case once the ariline portion of my trip is over. I know others have done the same thing for years. Don't know why i resisted it for so long. Simple is better in this case. |
