Forgive me if this question has been asked but I'm new to this, and I couldn't find the answer I'm looking for with the BASIC search feature.
What other caliber uppers (if any) can I use on a .223/5.56 lower without any modifications? 6.8SPC? 7.62x39? I've read that you shouldn't use anything but what your lower is marked for, but what makes one stamped "Multi" different from one stamped with a specific caliber? Thanks in advance for your help. Monty Whoever told you the part in bold was mistaken. It's perfect fine, safe, and legal to use a lower marked X for calibers A, B, or C. Here is a short list of calibers that will work in a standard 5.56 lower: 5.56NATO/.223 Rem .300 BLK .300 Whisper 9mm Para .45 ACP .22LR 6.5 Grendel .264 LBC .30 Remington AR 6.8 SPC 7.62x39 .458 SOCOM .450 Bushmaster .50 Beowulf .50 BMG Cartridges like the .308 Win and cartridges based off the .308 Win require the larger AR-10 or LR-308 platform. |

Thanks! I knew about the .308 Win, but wasn't sure about the others... still don't understand why the AR-10 platforms aren't standardized across the industry tho. I guess that just leaves magazines... I'm assuming most (if not all) will require their own magazines, but I could be mistaken about that as well. |
