what is the most effective rate reducing buffer ??

MGI mechanical rate reducing
buffer tech Enidine Hydraulic
or just the heaviest thing you can find like the 8 oz one sold in the EE here

maybe one that im not aware of

thanks

Most effective and most reliable would probably have to go to the Vltor A5 system.

What is the planned application?

counter act added back pressure of adding a suppressor

still keeping it functional with out suppressor figure the buffer is easy enough to pop in and out

If you're shooting 16" barrel you wouldn't need it.

If under 14.5", get a piston upper......

#1.  Are we talking semi-auto rifle (ar-15), or machinegun (i.e. m16)
There is no ROF in a Ar15. No buffer is going to make that second shot come any faster because the gun fires once per trigger pull.
Therefore ROF would be the wrong term. A rate of anything requires more than one.

In a M16 with hydraulic buffer, the hydraulic action of the buffer slows the time before the bolt/buffer comes forward triggering the sear and releases the hammer. It takes more time for the buffer to compress  (via the hydraulic force). That little bitty time delay adds up to a reduced rate of fire.

Heavier buffers (non-hydraulic) just take more force to get moving. Once the buffer touched the end of the buffer tube, it is already moving  foward from the buffer spring pressure. There is no hesitation from hydraulic compression. People on this board claim they will slow the ROF, but I dont think its by much at all. There is no compression in a non-haydraulic buffer, but for the little bit the polymer bump stop thing has and its the same on a car,H,  H1, H2 or H3.

Once the hydraulic buffer touches the end of the buffer tube (rec extension) there is some additional compression from the hydraulic shock internals. As the shock compresses it slows the time before the buffer/bolt propels forward.

There... I tried my best to play scientists

Supressor use...

Ive done this too. You need the MGi ajustable gas tube. Tune it so that it cycles on the lowest setting possible w/o the can, then open the valve 1/8-1/4 of a turn. You are set.
MGI gas tubes will not handle full auto fire. It will melt rupture, get really hot, and droop like a wet noodle in under 600 rounds of continuous fire. I had fun doing that

The MGI buffer is a great piece of kit.

Thats the first time ive heard it.
Ive been told more than once my endine is too, but ive never had an issue with it and trust me when I say it has been abused.

thanks for the replies

its on a semi

i just thought that with heavy buffer it would keep the system sealed longer , ie bolt locked up so more of the gas to go out of the front

guess it doesnt seem like my thinking is correct

I run about 6 MGI buffers and they all work great.  Helps cut my split times.  Every carbine I own gets one.  I have ran several thru high round count classes too.

They are expensive but you get what you pay for.

BTW, I said 'kit', not 'shit'.

Pardon me... I have never heard the phrase "POK".
I thought you were trying to be nice and not use foul language.
