Are these two kits the same? i.e. is the Spikes kit just a rebranded DPMS?  I have a spikes stripped lower, and I wanted to get the matching kit.  I remember hearing from someone before that Spike's uses DPMS in their rifles, but I can't find it anywhere.  Does anyone know for sure?

Before you suggest, "forget them both and get a DD" I am wanting to use a rounded hammer for this build as it will be both a BCM middy and ST-22 host.

Thanks people.

Perhaps someone in the Spike's industry section can assist you.

Thanks.... I didn't even know that each vendor had its own forum....

Noob to the site.

I doubt the spikes kits are rebranded DPMS. I've used DPMS parts for a number of builds, have yet to have any issues. But I'm sure the spikes are just fine as well.

I have both. I saw zero difference. Even the triggers feel the same to me.

I put a DPMS clamshell packaged kit in a lower with a buddy showing him how to do it, and the same day put a Spikes Enhanced Kit in my Kaiser. The hammer, disconnector, trigger and bolt catch are all definetly different pieces. I dont know but Id imagine the standard Spikes uses the same parts minus the coating. The DPMS hammer if you look at pics doesnt have the s stamped on them, the hook for the spring is shaped different and the trigger doesnt have the same marks cast in it the Spikes does either.

Spike's *USED* to use DPMS kits, I believe.

Tom has said since then they have either gotten a new parts source or they are manufacturing their own.

What matters

Is if SPIKE checks each part in there LPK

QC is everything

I didn't have any problems with my DPMS LPK. The trigger guard pin shouldn't even be an issue since the new standard is the Magpul Trigger guards. Mine went in fine with lube and channel lock pliers.

But anyway, if you are going to run a .22 upper you should invest in some anti-walk/rotation pins. (They break standard hammer pins) I use the DPMS pins but I haven't seen them in stock lately.

hey all

I just talked to Jax over at Spikes.

He said that the older Spikes guns WERE made with DPMS kits, and they sold them as kits also.

However, that was several years ago.  Now, Spikes uses their own kits and I just got mine in the mail.  I have it side by side with a DPMS kit, and you can definitely tell a difference.  I will put the pics up later.  I also plan to put the parts in the lower tonight.

I've never had a problem with DPMS personally, but I am hearing more and more about their lack of QC.

If anyone wants a cheap DPMS lpk, let me know btw.  I have a ton of them.  I will probably still use some of them, but I would like to pick up some more lowers right now.

How cheap are willing to let a DPMS LPK go for?

I have one left that I will sell for $53 shipped.

First IM of "ill take it can have it"  I'll edit the post when its gone.

Regarding the .22 upper, I didn't know all the problems that the st-22 uppers were having.  Maybe I'll just stick with my m&p 15-22.  I just wanted something closer in weight and same trigger as I would actually use.
