I've been kicking around several ideas on what I want to do with my current rifle which is a m&p15 moe edition. I've already decided on buying a bcm A4 rifle with my tax refund, but for my rifle now I was thinking of replacing the upper with a bcm 16 midlength.

What you guys think worth the upgrade or just leave the rifle as it is now

Are you planning on running the piss out of it?  The S&W will suit 95% of people just fine.  Really all your getting is Mil-Spec 11595E - Certified Barrel Steel (CMV)  and a 1/7 twist on the BCM vs. the S&W which has a 4140 steel and a 1/9 twist.

Not really planning on running it hard just heard so much about midlengths and every one I know has spikes carbines was thinking of being different.  Maybe ill just wait for my BCM A4

Drop an H buffer or T2 buffer into your S&W and call it good.  The BCM midlengths are nice, but I see no reason to get rid of your S&W.

I don't think the little bit of performance you'd gain would be worth it. Take the money you'd spend to make the switch and buy extra ammo.
Besides, after you get your A4, you might not even want to shoot the carbine anymore. A4's are pretty sweet shooting rifles.

I have a S&W and was thinking of doing the same thing. I do run the piss out of mine in 3 gun, but i am building a 3 gun AR. After reading this i will wait on my 3 gun AR and leave this S&W alone. It is a fine AR. No reason to fix something that aint broke.
