Hi all!

I'm new to the AR rifle and I'm starting my first build. I ordered a barrel and upon recieving it I did a quick look in the bore. Everything is nice and shiny except for one small spot where the gas hole was drilled. My question is this: should the hole on the inside of the barrel be a nice pefect circular hole? Because mine isn't...it's more an irregular oval shape and it seems quite abit bigger than the hole on the outside.

Any advice? I really like the barrel and don't want to have to send it back, but I certainly don't want a dangerous or inferior product that ends up giving me headaches later on...

Thanks in advance!

Your barrel hole is perfectly round.
When a perpendicularly drilled hole breaks through a concave surface, like inside of the barrel, it only appears to be oval.

When you cut a straw at an angle, the outline of the hole will be oblong even though the hole itself is round.
