I have Bravo Company Gunfighter Mod 4s on most of my ARs. My two LMT Piston rifles came with a new LMT charging handle with a tactical latch. These are forged aluminum and seem really strong. The latch has good surface area on it and is similar to the BCM Mod 4 in size.
Do you think it is worth replacing these with BCM charging handles or do you think the LMT forged ones are good to go? Here is the picture of the LMT Tactical latch. Deleted by moderator. Links to, or pictures from, this vendor are not allowed on this site. |

The strength of the charging handle isn't at issue. It's the design of the latch that sets the BCM apart. The BCM reduces the stress placed on the roll pin during a support hand charge, reducing the chance of a failure.
The LMT charging handle will be just fine. It's off-brand charging handles I'd worry about, and only under very trying circumstances. |

It depends on what you do, what your discretionary funds are, and your overall goal for the 2 piston carbines. The BCM GUNFIGHTER is better by design, but that doesn't make the other ones garbage by any stretch. Check out the link if you haven't seen it for more information.
