| I was wondering what everyones opinion was on gripping the magwell vs rail/forend vs a vertical grip? |
|
I use a VFG but only my ring and pinky fingers are wrapped around it. My middle and pointer finger are under the rail and my thumb is on top pointing forward.
My VFG is positioned so I am forced to reach as far as possible. My thumb over the top gives me the best control I think and also allows me to activate my weapon light without changing my grip. |

VFG or handguard. Although, some units in the army are teaching to use the magazine as a handle or a monopod, I truely believe it's a good way to cant the magazine (if it fits loosely) and create a feed problem.
But, others swear by it and will only hold thier rifle by the magazine ....... more power to em. |

Magwell grip is very common in practice.
Once you add body armor/gear and the desire to minimize your profile (i.e. keep your hands/arms/elbows tucked in) it's where your hand will end up, especially when prone. Another theory is why not keep your hand as close as possible to where it ends up after a mag change? |
