I am strongly looking at buying one of the RRA Operator series carbines.  I am wondering if anyone on here owns one and what they think of it.  I currently own a RRA Predator Pursuit, and want to stick with RRA for my carbine purchase.
Thanks

They are GTG, however there are better options price vs. Quality wise. As many will tell you shortly. But Rock River is a good weapon

I love my Operator series rifle but wouldn't mind not having the big "Rock River Arms Operator" printed on the side of the magwell.  Other than what appears to have been a faulty set of gas rings I have had no problems with mine at all.  Seems to be a very dependable weapon.  If you're set on the rock river gun I say go for it its a great system, while others will tell you that your money could be spent better elsewhere.

For the specs on that series you can do better.  I don't see much value in those rifles.  But you said you would like to stay RRA so I'm guessing your mind's already made up.

Enlighten me.  I am looking to purchase a carbine that already has a quad rail handguard and want something better than the standard 6 position buttstock that you see on every run of the mill carbine.  I also don't want to spend more than $1000 as I want to still be able to afford ammo to shoot from my rifles, rather than put all my money in the gun and never shoot it.  What I really like about my RRA is the crisp 2 stage trigger and the fit and finish on my current RRA is very tight.  I am not set on RRA, but building my own rifle is not an option and I don't want to have to spend more money to upgrade the trigger, handguard, and buttstock.

The RRA with the railed handguard was running over $1200 optioned out.  Where are you getting it for under $1K?

They are selling them for $1000 with free shipping on their website right now and dealers are offering them for as low as $959.

smartgunner.com is offering some good deals on Daniel Defense stuff right now.  You'll have to do an upper and lower seperate, but it's a great value.  Not a big fan of the rail on tht RRA.  Otherwise I would say go BCM but you won't be under $1K.

I was looking to purchase a decked out RRA a few months back and was advised not to.  Apparently their quality control is not what it used to be and they are mass producing.  I ended up going with a LMT seperate upper and lower which saved me a few hundred bucks.  I then found a lightweight quadrail (13.2 Larue) put on by a gunsmith.  It made it much lighter and was still around the 1K mark you are shooting for.

This is the deal of the Year, you have the option to custumize your upper the way you want. If you assemble your own lower it shouldnt cost more than $1000 with the smart gunner deal, plus your getting Daniel Defense parts. top notch

I got my Elite Operator 2 a few months ago with the 1k deal through Impact Guns.  It came as shown below.  Came with the chromed bolt carrier group and 2 useless mags...

http://i785.photobucket.com/albums/yy133/Rotors_R_Cool/RockRiverStock1.jpg?t=1293772036

It quickly got some goodies.  PMags and AFG (Within a week of arrival)

http://i785.photobucket.com/albums/yy133/Rotors_R_Cool/RockRiverFirstMods6.jpg?t=1293772036

Then came a few more...  Rail covers and Mod 4 Charging Handle. (Within a week of the others)

Then, came the glass.  And of course the Troy rear buis. (After some serious money saving)

http://i785.photobucket.com/albums/yy133/Rotors_R_Cool/RRAThirdMods2.jpg?t=1293772036

I didn't post all those pics to brag... well maybe a little.  Actually, I hope they can help someone visualize what can become of their rifle, maybe even help you out.  I will let you know that the free float handgaurd that comes on the Elite 2 is VERY heavy.  However, I still love my rifle.  With the dot I was able to get a 1.2 inch 6 shot group (wasn't really paying attention to the number of shots) at 50 yards using American Eagle XM193 which I'm happy with.  No failures to date.

Edit: I see there are hidden forum rules that require me to state that, I do actually shoot with it...

I noticed at out last gun show here a dealer had a bunch off RRA rifles and accessories and the price's were really good.
I guess they must have been doing some deals with dealers towards the end of the year or something.I have two RRA AR's they are ok with me.(tactical entry and PP)

RRA lower +  BCM upper = win.  Should be cheaper than a assembled "operator"  carbine.

I've had my Elite Operator for about a year now. It was my first AR platform weapon, so I have nothing to compare it to. I will say that it is solid, fit and finish are good, it's accurate, and enjoyable to shoot.

It's actually an Elite Comp with an Operator stock I bought when they first came out, all I added was the optic, mount and Grip Pod,  it is very, very accurate........

I put this together for about $958 (including Magpul MBUIS not pictured) using the smartgunner.com DD upper deal.

I did get a good deal on the stripped lower from a buddy for $50, but at reg. price for lowers it would be about $1033.  DD 14.5" lightweight middy CHF barrel w/ permed Phantom, DD Lite 12FSPM rail, LMT BCG, Palmetto MOE LPK and MOE stock.  I think the RRA Operators are overpriced for what you get.  You can plop a much better DD upper (with a lot better rail) on any lower for the same $$.

MY buddy went the RRA Operator route and really likes it.  Another option would be BCM:

BCM Blem Lower w/ Vltor Modstock.....................................................$299.00
Shipping......................................................................................$15.00
FFL Transfer Fee...........................................................................$25.00

BCM 16" Mid Length Upper w/ BCM BCG and Charging Handle.....................$520.00
Magpul Mid Length Handguard ..........................................................$33.20
Magpul MBUS...............................................................................$55.05
Magpul PMag...............................................................................$14.20
Shipping.....................................................................................$13.95
                                                                                                  ––––––––––––
                                                                                                     $957.40

I went BCM for my first and only AR and have nothing but good things to say about it.

I have the same model Cansler posted a pic of, I added the ARMS 40lp rear sight and a Yankee Hill front flip on mine with a Bushnell trophy mini red dot at the 1 o'clock position. The scope is still in deliberation.

Couldn't be more pleased with a rifle, the 2 stage trigger is great, light, crisp...just how you want it for precision shooting. Accuracy/precision with crap ammo is excellent (relatively speaking) can keep on a quarter at 50 yrd with irons...

No problems thus far.
You'll be happy with it, don't get caught up in the my –––– is bigger than yours crap....

I have an Elite Operator 2. Paid 1033.00 with two extra mags (4 total) and tax. This is my first AR to own, but have shoot several rounds thru a number of other rifles. I really like what I have. However, in this price range, everyone has their preference and everyone thinks theirs is the best.

The only thing I have to add is I had that RRA tactical muzzle brake on a rifle a while back and I really liked it. Very effective, light wieght, and not too bad on the ears as all. Seemed to throw more of the blast forward then back or to the sides too much.

Thanks.

What was wrong with the mags?  RRA normally ships with NHMTG magazines which IMO are as good as anything you can buy.

Medium contour.  RRA's "heavy barrel".  Non-chrome lined.  It definitely adds to the front heaviness but I'm fine with it because it has a purpose.  I'd kinda like to get rid of the handgaurd for something lighter and longer.  I plan to go lo-pro block and rifle length gaurd.

Fair share of RRA bashing here but nothing to back it up.
I've carried a Colt for years on duty andas long as I feed it well- no complaints.

There are 2 RRAs in use around me- no (as in NO) problems. Accurate and dependable so far.

Bought the RRAs Elite Opreqtor 2 a month or so ago and have shot over 600 rounds out of it. No failures and no cleaning yet. Originally I thought I'd shoot it w/o cleaning until some failure but after reading of the Filthy 14- I can't compete w/ that- or afford to try.
Anyway- It's been perfect so far though I do wish the half/half fore grip were lighter. But as a weight weenie in all things- that's a typical complaint from me.

I'm not saying that the RRAs are the only way to go- or the best but I am wondering why folks don't like them. Other than the usual "I had a friend who said that his sister's first husbands had problems."
Vague mention of lower quality- like what?

My 2 cents- if you like the RRAs EO2- buy it, shoot it, and keep safe.

Agreed.  It's a proven system.  I love mine.  I love the shape and rail placement of the fore grip, just not the weight.  The muzzle brake works well, and the stock is fairly tight.  I like that I can ride the selector with RRA's design.  It operates smoothly and is accurate and reliable.  It does everything I ask of it.
