| If I installed the magpul buis on a piston rifle will they hold up. If I read the description correctly the magpul buis are polymer? If so would the heat from the gas block hurt the sight? Thanks! |

Ill bet that if you post up what your plans are, you'll get some advice. There is really no reason to have BUIS(extra cost of folding mechanism) unless you're primary will be some sort of dot optic. I'd find some nice standard sights otherwise. If you still want BUIS, then I drank the troy koolaid. I love them and more importantly I think they could handle a little heat, but yeah that's alot of cash for something I don't intend to use much. Better options may exist. For a cleaner look, there are some gas blocks with a built in BUIS. I don't have much experience with others so I'll quit rambling. |

Quoted: My primary is an eotech for now... but in the event of optic failure I want a folding backup. I was a bit unsure about jumping on the troy bandwagon prior to shopping around. The prices seem a bit high but maybe its just me. Have you looked into fixed back up sights? I run a fixed front, rear, and EoTech it's a great combination in my opinion. |

This doesnt hinder your sight picture through the eotech? |

That would be great thanks a ton for the help! So did you find any good info on co-witnessing, if so did you make a decision? Not yet. I am back on my shift so not alot of time to research. I will be off in the next few days and im hoping to get something figured out. I know I like the the open picture you get when shooting iron sights, and also love the FOV with the EoTech. Still I havent tried anything cowitnessed as most of the guys at my department opt for the folding sights. Its not a requirement to carry but seems to be the trend with everyone atm. If I can find a setup thats cowitnessed I will definately give it the benefit of the doubt but as with most things, I only have a small window to obtain some type of BUIS. And im having a hard time with the troy bandwagon, so if there are any comparable folding/fixed sights front and rear anyone could suggest I look into that would be great. Thanks! |
