Will this increase concussion or noise on a BCM 14.5 lightweight middy? If so how much? Yes. Considerably. Check out the BattleComp - quite a bit better muzzle control. Simply not true. The BattleComp is a good device but the PWS keeps the muzzle flatter. |

Quoted: Will this increase concussion or noise on a BCM 14.5 lightweight middy? Yes. If so how much? Some. It will increase noise and concussion to a degree, but not nearly as bad as most breaks. I don't notice it when I'm shooting unless I'm standing next to wall. The huge increased in muzzle control is well worth the slight increase in noise on a 14.5"+ barrel IMO. |
| I like my PWS and I refer to it as my "loudener". My loudener is nothing compared to some of the comps guys are running on my team. It does exactly what it's supposed to do. I don't notice the concussion on outdoor ranges when other guys with the PWS are firing, but you definitely know when someone is shooting one at the indoor range. I don't know about the battle comp (never used one) but I've heard noting but good things about it. Hope this helps. My PWS is also riding on a BCM 14.5 middy....great setup! |

The BattleComp is a good device but the PWS keeps the muzzle flatter. Then you've had quite a different experience than I have with two seperate rifles, each with PWS comps - replaced by BC's. MUCH less concussion, and yes, much flatter muzzle control for me. Lots of guys are replacing thier PWS comps with BCs for this exact reason. Is the PWS good? Yes. Does the BC allow quicker followups? IMO, definitely. |

My PWS is perfect for me. It does everything I want it to. For others... its different. It had enough concussion one day that the guy shooting next to me came up to me dumbfounded asking me what caliber my ar was expecting me to respond with 308, .50 or something, he was shocked to hear it was only a 5.56. So the concussion for others is very noticeable but for you theres no difference.

| it all depends on you. I run a PWS on my 16in Carbine and I love it. My night shoots are awesome with it on. Low flash that won't blind the heck out of you, my buddy has a BC, that flash will blind the eff out of you. If you are using your carbine for home defense or SHTF go with a PWS. If you plan on being a comp shooter and that's it, get a BC. That's my 2 cents on the issue. |
If you are behind it, you will only notice a difference in the recoil (or lack thereof). Its the people on the left and right that need to worry about the concussion.
I have never used a Battlecomp, but I have a lot of rounds through my FSC556, and I love the damn thing. |

When I had my M-16, I had an FSC556 on it, at the end of a 7.5" bbl. I could do a 30-rnd mag dump, in one burst, and keep all 30 rounds within a 6" circle at 7 yards. Of course, you didn't want to be standing anywhere to the side of me when I did it.
I've since gotten rid of the M-16, but I've got an FSC556 YHM QD mount on my 11.5" SBR for my Phantom can. I haven't yet shot it without the can, but I doubt it performs to any lower standard than it's non-QD cousin did on the -16. |

Increase noise or concussion compared to what If you are comparing it to an A2X, then the answer is yes. It will be somewhat noticable, but not nearly as obnoxious as most brakes. I have FSC5566's on all of my post ban builds and they do a great job of helping to control muzzle rise. You shouldn't hesitate to buy one unless your primary concern is competition where pure brakes like the SJC Titan are very popular. My rifles are intended for HD, range use and carbine classes. Until the BC 1.5 is widely available, the FSC556 offers the best compromise of muzzle control, flash suppression and noise levels that you'll find. |
