With the death of braces and a general reluctance to SBR, I predict we might see a renaissance of interest in the dissy!

Pair that thought with PSA making carry handle uppers and we might have a resurgence about to take place

So, I’ve got a dissipator and have been thinking about an upgrade, so I emailed Midwest the other day to see about their rifle length quad rail or m-lok drop in rail and the inner diameter, and they replied that they wouldn’t clear a carbine low pro gas block.
Is anybody running one or has gotten one clear and fit?
I’d really like to roll with this but don’t want to pay to play a game that I don’t stand a chance with.

Hello from Indiana. This my first post. I have been a lurker here for a few years and finally decided to join. I recently finished a Dissipator build and have put about 85 rounds through it so far. It had a few hiccups at the start, but seems to be breaking in nicely now.

Looking for some parts and some info.
Scrolled through the first 10 pages followed by the most recent 15 or so.
Interested in doing a mock dissy or whatever everyone is calling the midlength gas block with pinned fsb at rifle length.

Looking for a 1:9 midlength, doesnt seem anyone makes these anymore, anyone have an idea/recommendation?
I have a bunch of extra left over piston parts, can a superlative or adams micro piston kit be ran under a kac m5 ras?
Lastly, good sources for a1/a2 stock kit?

Thanks for any info!

I had to modify the heatshields on mine.

It's been updated. Ended up puting a surefire600 on the IWC mount. I'll take it out after this next snowstorm to see how it holds. up.

I recently scored a Colt C7 upper with the large hole front pivot pin. Ordered a bushing to fix that. I also got a LM marked true A1 upper.

I'm planning on using the LM with a old NIB SENDRA lower I picked up last year. I need to find a pencil weight Dissipator barrel to go with them. I might cannibalize the Adams Arms ultra lightweight barrel I had the A frame added to.

Is that an actual cut-down rifle-gas barrel, or are you hiding a gas block under those handguards?  I have a Brownells proto barrel that I was thinking about cutting down to 605 length, but I wasn't sure if that would work...

They are Brownells prototype style handguards but RIT dyed dark brown.

There's a shaved down gas block under the handguards. It's a mid length.

Used Aimpoint M4s on a LaRue mount now added to my mixmaster social work carbine.

Spike's Tactical Dissipator URG.
Ace skeletonized stock.
Moe handguards and Magpul VFG.
Ergo grip.
LaRue BUIS and trigger.
Maglite XL-50 flashlight in rigged mount from old rings.

Best,
JBR

Been wanting to add a dissy to the inventory, picked up an upper with midlength gas from PSA.

The lower it's destined for is sitting in citristrip currently, so put it on another for now. Have not shot yet, but FSB is straight. Swapped out the newer-style handguards for the older thinner ones I had laying around. Really liking how handy it is and the sight radius.

Finally can post something here. Just picked up a Spikes AIM GMP complete Dissipator upper and paired it with a Spikes lower. I may throw a light and sling on it, but otherwise plan to keep it KISS for now.

On the hunt for one right now. Just posted a WTB ad here for a KAC USMC or Magpul PRO LR. Honestly the odds of both the ACOG and the MRDS ever failing are next to none, it just doesn't seem right not having an iron sight on a dissipator.

I'm not going to lie, aesthetics played a big role in this setup. The quad is one of the new M5 RAS rails that Brownells is selling for under $200. It's made by the company that bought out P&S. For the money I'm really impressed.

Damn this thread!!  Ordered a PSA Dissy upper today for $199 with free shipping. I know it's not "clone correct" but I don't care. It's kind of a spare parts rifle. I'm excited to get it. Should be a fun build and shoot.

Thanks for helping me spend more money yet again ARFCOM!!

I'll get pics up when it's done if the PSA uppers are acceptable in here.

No idea. I don't think I've ever shot any of them with irons. And it's probably been 6 or 7 years since I shot any of them.

This 450 Bushmaster is carbine gas on a 20 inch barrel

The barrel is .750 and the YHM folding FSB clamps and acts as the stop for the handguard ring

The upper is a left hand, side charger from Gibbz,
the ejection port was opened by them for big bore cases

i am planning on parking this on a Fightlite SCR lower

Came here to post this deal. Comes with the EPT trigger and free shipping too!

If they haven't shipped yet you can call them and cancel the order and then re-order the complete rifle.
