| Whats up everyone, how are ya? I recently bought a S&W M&P15 OR in 5.56 and want to replace the front hand guards. I have a NCStar AR-15 wrench, but I'd really like to stick with a D-ring configuration. What are some good quad rails that utilize the D-Ring? Also since I'm new to the AR world, will I have to remove the gas block to install the new guards? Other than replacing the guards, all the modifications to the stock gun that I wanted I've done, so this will pretty much finish my gun. Thanks in advance boys and girls. |
| Get a Daniel Defense Omega rail. All you need for the install is a flat head screw driver and the allen wrench supplied with the rail. All you have to remove from your rifle is the factory handguards. It uses the D ring and also is a free floating rail. It is very simple and locks up rock solid. I have 2 and am very plesaed. |

If I were free floating that would be another issue. For simple installation replacement, KAC RAS. They do not ff, but are rock solid for lights, etc., and "Factory Seconds" are great values. I agree with this. I just installed a RAS and am very impressed with how solid it is. |

I have the Daniel Defense Omega rail also. By far the easiest to install that will FF the barrel and it is rock solid. |

If you don't care about freefloat, the Daniel Defense EZ Car is cheaper and installs like the Omega. It has the four set screws in back which would be pretty tight. I have the Omega, but wouldn't hesitate to get the EZ Car for a non free float alternative.

I have the MI, Troy and KAC drop in's and out of the three I recommend the Troy. It is 100% rock solid and just as easy to install as the plastic handguards. Give us a range report. Yeah I run KAC RAS since o5 I recommend the troy as well spending over 200 bucks is a wastes on a SHTF M4 Really no major need to free Float a M4 anyway unless you have the cash to blow. Plus If I was going to FF RAIl it would be 1pc |

Hey all thanks again for all the help. I went with the Daniel Defense Ez CAR 7.0. Ordered it through work, and should be here tomorrow. God I love working at a bait and tackle store that sells guns. I'm sure you'll be pleased with your purchase. I like the EZ CAR. |

I'm sure you'll be pleased with your purchase. I like the EZ CAR. thanks, my only concern now is the length. My handguards are pretty small, so I'm really hoping the new ones work out. Its funny really, I just bought 2 new guns, and only get to play with them for another month... |

Am I wrong, or is any rail that utilizes the d-ring NOT going to free float the barrel...?
Cause people seem to keep saying the daniel defense omega only requires the removal of the stock handguards and the fastening of the rails in replacement and securing to one another. This is not what I would call free float... you know? |
| Well, the Ellett brothers shipment didn't come today, should be at work tomorrow, so barring any catastrophic shtf moments, I should have pictures of my completed(minus flip sights) M&P15. After doing some research, I'm in love with the DD EZ car rails. Thanks for recommending them. |

Heya AR15.com, again many thanks for your assistance and recommendations. The DD EZCAR 7.0 is pretty much sex. In return for your awesome support I give you some gun porn.
Here is a wide view of all my Smith and Wesson weapons. The knife is a S&W Search and Rescue survival knife, the AR is... well its an AR(M&P15ORC - More specs to follow)and the pistol is a M&P9. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v738/De1337ed/P8200074.jpg Here is a close up of the new hand guards; Daniel Defense EZ CAR 7.0($159.99 retail) I also got the IO light laser combo from the owner of my store for a discounted price. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v738/De1337ed/P8200078.jpg Below is the Osprey International parallax reflex sight http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v738/De1337ed/P8200075.jpg My M&P9mm 4.25inch barrel http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v738/De1337ed/P8200079.jpg Aaaannnddd the knife http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v738/De1337ed/P8200083.jpg So far all we have done to the already ballsy AR is; replace the pinned stock with a milspec receiver extension and a VLTOR IMODstock with a H2 buffer, and replace the factory hand guards with the Daniel Defense quad rail. I'm in love. Now on the menu, do I buy a new barrel so I can have the standard A2 birdcage, or do I leave it be?(In my honest opinion, if I'm using my weapon in a life threatening situation, the police have already been notified, and my position isn't 100% important. if i need to conceal my position, I have another weapon for that one.) I also need irons for this one... any suggestions? |
