I took my AR and a couple other toys out to the club today... I put 30 rounds thru the AR and went to check my target but when I came back inside the range house I noticed that my brass was about 6-15ft away from my shooting position..   I kinda feel bad for the guys that were to the right of me.

Sounds normal... Bushmaster throws them about 10 feet

You think an AR is bad...try standing next to a properly tuned FAL...those things will take your head off

That sounds like a serious problem, OP. When I shoot, all my brass lands in a nice, neat little pile, in rows. In fact, if I do it right, I can leave the empty boxes in the right places and all the spend shells will land right back in the boxes and even close the lids!

I kid, I kid, that all sounds perfectly normal.

Or a PTR-91/G3 clone. Throws brass all over the place, like 15 or so feet.

My MAK-90 throws brass about 25 feet, and my AK-54R (16" PSL) throws it close to 40 feet.

At that distance they might be in more danger from the brass!

...but it stays in the same county?  That's not bad!  My AK likes to pelt people on the other side of the berm between ranges.  My Makarov pistol throws brass 40-50 feet-and backward!

OP, 6-15 feet is completely acceptable.

Totally normal. Usually the range officials keep me and my buddy a couple of stations away from everyone else when we shoot our AR's that way we only hit each other with hot brass
