[ARCHIVED THREAD] - question on upper differences

have a bushmaster with extended feed ramps and im wondering if a purchase a new upper does it have to be a bushmaster upper so the feed ramps match up properly with the lower or are extended feed ramps universal so that any upper will fit on my bushmaster lower? If i sound stupid for asking i apologize in advance as im trying to become more knowledgable.

If the barrel has the M4 extension then uppers from BCM,CMT,Colt with M4 ramps will fit fine.
