When it comes to mounts and rail systems, I use A.R.M.S. products.

The SIR rail systems for the AR have two versions.. C and M models.
The C models retain the delta ring and h-g cap. The barrel is free floating all but a very small part of the hg cap.
The hg cap is still free to wiggle around and the contact area is very light.

Is that small amount of contact hurting anything. I mean like to the point that is degrades the free-floating barrel advantage?

If you're paying that much why not just get a true free float system?  If it clamps into the HG cap you may as well be running a moe or a standard handguard in my opinion.

Your barrel is not free floatted. it is the same as having a set of m4 hanguards there.

Search this site (google works great) for ARMS info.  Not exactly a popular vendor in these parts.  Dick Swan is a bit of a flake (being generous.)
