So i did some digging tonight and came across an upper i bought 10 years ago and forgot about it. I want a little help identifying what it is. It is marked colt 223 on the side of the upper receiver and the barrel is marked C MP 5.56 Nato 1/9 H BAR.  I may sell it or keep it and do some modifications to it(rail system and what not). What do you guys think? Thanks for the help.

To me it seems like it's an upper from a Match Target Competition MT6700 HBAR rifle.

If you like the 1/9 twist and heavy profile barrel it's would be a nice upper with a free float rails.

Is there a letter C stamped at the rear of the shell deflector on the upper receiver?

No C on the back

Well, but if it's marked Colt .223  on the side of the upper receiver it should be a genuine Colt upper receiver.

i assume it is? It's in big letters right on the side. I remember reading about the HBAR barrels being decent but the 1/9 is not my favorite. Does any one know of a free float tube that will be as long as the handgaurd on it now? A little off topic i know.

I have one of those uppers.  I bought it during the BAN, and paid top dollar for it.  It is some kind of conversion or upgrade for the A2 rifle.  I still have the box for mine, but it now has a an M4 type barrel on it.  It is still a quality upper.  Kind of looks like a pickup truck tailgate with the big letters across it.

Any rifle length tube will be the same length as the guards on it now, and should help with increasing accuracy. 1/9 is just fine...depending on what bullet wieght you would like to shoot.

Any 12" free float tube or rails should work with your rifle gas system.

Just about every rail maker makes a 12" model like Daniel Defense, LaRue, PRI, Samson, Superior Weapons Systems, Troy, etc.
