I'm looking into building a M4gery for plinking and HD only, I plan to use a 16" barrel, my question is what gas length should I use and what brand barrel should I use?

Sorry if this is in the wrong place

I just built a new upper with a Lothar Walther 16" but it came with the gas hole already drilled so it was a carbine length system.  It works great now...some glitches at first but now runs like a sewing machine.  The next one will be a mid-length though.  There are a lot of threads on this site extolling the virtues of the mid-length gas system and the arguments seem to be convincing.  I think the overall advantage over the long run will be less recoil and less wear with the gas pressure down a bit over the carbine.

Daniel Defense.

Did a lot of looking into it and even posted a couple of threads here abut the same thing.
In the end I couldn't drop the cash on a Noveske or a WOA, so DD it was. ( I went with 14.5 though)
I went with carbine length cause I'm running 7' rails.

Should have it back from the funshop in a few days.

If it's a M4gery then you want carbine length gas. Take you pick from tens of manufacturers.

Are you saying "M4gery" because you want the firearm to look like a US military issue carbine, or are you simply saying you want a good carbine?

this answer yeilds completely different answers to you question.

I was going for the look a like i honestly don't know why I put the mid'length gas part in there , but I'm wanting a quality "look a like US military issue carbine" here is what I'm thinking about

14.5 with pinned A2X from BCM
BCM lower
DD EZ CAR rail
MaTech or Troy BUIS
EOTech
CTR or MOE stock
maybe a Surefire 6P LED light
and a good sling

Right forum, but there are a bunch of "which length gas system?" threads already. Dupe.
