I'm looking for a commercially made fixed stock in FDE. I would like for it to match my Tango Down VFG and Knight's Armament Rail covers. Both of these items are darker than the Magpul FDE and match the LMT FDE SOPMOD pretty closely. Anyone know of one?

Thanks,

Tom

Brownells Aluma-Hyde II in Coyote will turn a black one into a pretty good impersonation of Magpul's FDE.

Thanks, I'm looking for something a little darker than the Magpul color. More along the lines of KAC's Taupe.

Cavalry Arms makes their C1 fixed stock (A1 length) in both Dark Earth and Coyote. I think their Dark Earth would be the closest to your TD and KAC stuff but I don't have a picture on hand to compare.

I've never dealt with them before, do they make quality stuff?

It is pretty decent. If you want things a certain color they are often the only game in town. However, they aren't using true trapdoors, their stocks use more of a plastic hinge to keep the door in place, instead of the metal spring loaded lock. For what you are paying it is a great deal.

They used to make one piece polymer lower receivers, dunno if you can still get those.  I have a Cav Arms A1 stock on my SDM in the other thread, found the A2 stock to be too long.

Yes but their A1 stocks require some modification so they dont slip off the buffer tube. You can get better butt plates from fulton armory.

or do it yourself:

Not real sure I'd go with a company's gear if I have to modify it just to keep it from sliding off!!!

I've never heard of anyone (including myself) who had to modify a A1 stock so it doesn't slip off the receiver extension.  How can that possibly be true as it's the buttplate that holds the stock onto the receiver extension?

But I'll agree the Fulton Armory A2 buttplate is a better option than the stock one - that is how I ran my Coyote C1 stock.

Yeah. I was disappointed. From now on I will get A1 stocks from Fulton Armory. They are better quality.

The buttplate is soft rubber on the cav arms, not hard plastic like the fulton armory ones. The screw slips right threw it with a little force.

Can I attach a standard metal A2 butt plate to this stock?

Exactly what I did, I bought just the stock body and took my other parts from my A2 stock assy.

No idea if the VLTOR rifle modstock matches or not but something to look into.

Their C1 dark earth stock is used by Knight`s Armament for their M110 stock ssembly.

Since I have an A2 stock assembly do I need a different receiver extension tube?

KAC takes the C1 stock and alters it to become the M110 stock??????

Same buffer tube, just take out the spacer and screw on the a1 stock.

All the parts are the same except the top screw and the spacer. With the A1 stock you need to get or trim down the top butt plate screw, and omit the spacer. The CavArms stocks are good with the exception of the butt plate. I buy mine from Fulton Armory, their kit is the CavArms A1 stock with the correct butt plate.

I went ahead and ordered the Cav Arms C-1 stock in Flat Dark Earth. The sales rep that I spoke to confirmed what someone said earlier, these stocks are used by Knights Armament for the M110 sniper system. I'll let you know how it goes.

Well, I received my Cav Arms stock the other day and it matches my Knights Armament parts perfectly. I'm very happy with the stock and Cav Arms was a pleasure to deal with.
