I am putting together parts for a 20" flattop build (my first build) and have a question about bi-pod mounting options. I would like to use the standard A2 style handgarids and front sight gas block, but also want the option of mounting a bi-pod when the situation calls for it (prairie dogs and long range plinking).
I have seen the gas blocks with rails, and I suppose I could use one of those with a flip up front sight and mount the bi-pod to the bottom of that, but that seems like an awful lot to spend just to mount a bipod. I know I could also use a quad rail type handgaurd, but there again, a lot of money for a general purpose plinking/varmint control/truck gun type build. I have no intention of adding lights or a vertical front grip, etc. so I really don't need all those rails. Perhaps this build will give me the bug and I will end up building a carbine upper with a quad rail, but for this build, KISS is the name of the game. So, can a bipod be attached to the standard A2 style front block? If so, is it s specific style of bi-pod, or it a harris sling swivel type with some sort of adapter? Thanks in advance for any guidance you all can provide! |
