another lefty here.  After any malfunction, I can release the mag with with right thumb, rack the CH with my right hand, while locking the bolt back with my left index finger.   Being a lefty enables you to rack the CH and lock the bolt back without having to remove your trigger hand.

^this.  On misfires/bad primer strike/whatever I'm still going back and forth between using my left hand for a quick rack vs using the right hand to rack while rolling to the right (ejection port down).  I can't make up my mind which I like better.

the only thing I use my right hand for is safety and pulling trigger and pushing mag release, I flip safety with left thumb. I pull the chagnng handle with left hand, hit forward assist and strip mag with right hand.  my trigger finger never leaves the trigger or right along side the top of guard.  I did it entire time in military, and in training now or deploying with my m4.  I find it pretty easy but it takes practice.  I dont even think I could use a left handed ar as effectively its so engrained in me.  practice and find out what works best for you.  I know some guys at work that had issues with one thing or another they chose ambi parts to help em but for me I doubt I'd use em. Ambi parts were never an option for us in military but that was a long time ago.  The only thing I ever hated was getting hit in forehead with brass from old a1's.

Yep. Left handed manipulations are actually easier than right handed IMO.

Rack the charging handle under the gun, like righties do with an AK.

Another lefty here too.  I added a Magpul B.A.D. lever and ACLM ambi CH to help with the manipulations.  Mag gets stripped out using right thumb to depress mag release.  Bolt locked back by pushing in B.A.D. lever with left index finger and pulling CH back   After malf is cleared, new mag inserted with right hand and right thumb hits B.A.D. lever to drop bolt.

While the ACLM works well, I would prefer a larger purchase area to grab.  I also have setups using a BCM Gunfighter CH which just requires me to reach over the top and pull back.  It's a bit slower, but I find the med latch is ideal.  The B.A.D. works as advertised.  It's pretty lefty friendly and very inexpensive to try for yourself.  That said, I'm open to trying other components to see if something might work even better.  Your own comfort level may very well not mirror mine or someone else's.  The Wilson Combat extended bolt catch release caught my eye and I might try some of the new Troy ambi products as well.

I've never seen that with either weapon system...

I've seen with an AK, but its charging handle is very different and in a very different location. Not a good idea an AR.
