They are manufactured by outside suppliers to BCM's specs.  And yes, they are very good

This...and they won't divulge WHO actually makes their parts, good or otherwise.

While it doesn't really matter, some people would like to know who is making their parts.

On my 1 - 10 'need to know' scale it's an eleven.

They are the best out there in my opinion.

Paul does not cut corners, and I have heard him mention sending back massive batches of parts that didnt live up to his expectations.

Paul doesn't divulge who makes his parts.  He spent a bunch of time and money testing different parts, seeing who made the best stuff, and he believes he has the best of the best for every part out there.  Releasing who he gets his parts from would allow someone to make similar uppers without having the expense of doing the R&D that Paul and his crew did an extensive amount of.

In short, all that shit costs $$.  You don't work out a formula for success and then give it to your competitors.

This...unequaled dedication to quality control coupled with "unbested" customer service...in my opinion and experience..

Just like secret recipes, it doesn't make sense for a company to give away information like that.  It doesn't help them, and doesn't really do anything for us, either.  In fact, most people here have probably never heard of most of the machine shops that many manufacturers use.

BCM uppers and components are very well made.  I've had the opportunity to compare them to a LOT of different manufacturers of components in the last few months, and they are among the highest quality components I've come across.  Like hand tools, shoes, and many other products we buy, there IS a difference in quality.  A harbor freight socket wrench might look just like a more expensive U.S.-made wrench, but one will break in half in your hand when you subject it to any amount of force.  A spark plug wrench purchased at AutoZone will break, bend, and be useless, while a US-made Craftsman or other quality tool will work and hold up for years of service.  $100+ running shoes might look just like the $20 Walmart shoes, but there WILL be a difference in how they perform on the track (and I've had the blisters to prove it).

AR's are no different.  A $275 upper belched out by a company who can't get their AR's or their FALs right, compared to a $435 BCM upper that is made properly and made to last, there will be a big difference.

It doesn't matter who forged it.  All they did was make a raw part that still had to be machined.  That it was machined properly matters much more.

We will never know exactly who and it doesn't really matter.  All that needs to be known is that they are manufactured to very demanding specs and the QA/QC in place is excellent.

Multiple suppliers....Your BCM upper is not necessarily forged by the same place as my BCM upper. Keep in mind that almost every AR "Brand" is forged by one of just a few companies. It is in the specifications, Quality Control, final machining, assembly and fit, and customer support that makes any real differences.

I got my BCM upper. Then they dried up for a year or two. Paul sent back an entire run of parts because they did not meet his standards. He could have sold them, but he didn't.

All you need to know is that he won't sell cheap parts.

This post says it all about BCM.

Many manufacturers let things slide in order to get product out the door during periods of high demand. Remember all of the purple lowers during Y2K? Remember the rifles from another manufacturer that shipped without bolt catches, or any sort of washer behind the muzzle device?

Paul could have let things slide too, and 99% of his clients wouldn't have known the difference...

...but Paul would have known.

There are a lot of shady outfits in this business, but BCM isn't one of them. They are not merely the flavor of the month-they have earned their reputation and deserve our respect-and our support.

Why, they're #1 on "The Chart", what else do you want?

Seriously, they make a good product and that's it. So do other companies. Several of them.

Lots of kool-aid drinkers out there, especially for BCM and MagPul. At least MagPul actually has products in stock all of the time!

I have a BCM upper with a SS 1-in-8 barrel and LaRue handguard. It is by far the most accurate, best shooting upper I've ever laid my hands on. Very high quality. I don't care who machined the parts.

I built my A4gery this winter using a BCM 20" gov't upper. I absolutely love it and will continue to use BCM for all of my builds. I tend to over analyze everything I use and compared my BCM to friends' builds they have where they used Bushmaster, Colt, RRA, DPMS, even LMT and I feel that overall I have the best quality. As for accuracy I am totally impressed and have shot 2 MOA groups at 100m with irons and surplus ammo. I didn't expect groups like that at all. Fit and finish are near perfect too. BCM also has GREAT customer service. My charging handle broke, (ring around gas key sheared off) shortly after purchase....well one 30rd mag to be exact....and I contacted BCM. They sent me a replacement free of charge which I had in four days and they even paid the shipping for me to send back the old one. I have no complaints at all and will use BCM every chance I get.

There was a reply in a thread a while back that mentioned giving false information as a joke. Remember, people who are less experienced with the AR platform come here and ask for advice, and they might just take your post seriously.

Kinda verifies that BCM products are in high demand, right?  BCM earned their reputation with top quality mil spec uppers/lowers, not because of a clever marketing scheme.  Buy one, shoot the heck out of it and you'll see what everyone's talking about it.

Regarding Magpul being full stocked all the time...you're kidding, right?

There was a thread in the Colt industry forum a while back where someone was asking about an unusual Colt he was considering for purchase. Some smart ass indicated that it was a rare collectible, and the OP ended up buying it. Long story short, the rifle turned out to be a fake, Colt got involved, and it turned into a freaking nightmare for the poor bastard who bought it.

Some people need to either grow the hell up or go back to GD and let the grownups talk
