I'm interested in a Colt 6920 or 6940. If I polished the carrier and purchased the LMT enhanced bolt, would that make the gun more reliable? Due to the slickness and less friction? I want to be able to fire 2k plus w/o a weapon failure.

Step 1. Buy either rifle
Step 2. Apply generous lube
Step 3. Fire 2k rounds without malfunction.
LMT enhanced bolt and polished carrier are unnecessary

Do not replace your bolt.

Please allow me to give you some free advice that should make you feel a bit better about your factory Colt:

1) Read this BLOG

2) Watch the videos

3) Realize that your semiauto Colt will never, EVER, be subjected to that kind of abuse.

4) Enjoy your new pony

Trust me.

buy either, get a spikes buffer, get a high power action spring.  the extra inertia will increase reliability more than any other upgrade.  also be generous with lube.  Synthetic motor oil is really good as it keeps depisits in solution so they dont bind to the gun.  CLP is also very good.  either one will get you good results.

The very best quality. No need to change a thing on that rifle.

You're more likely to CAUSE a failure by doing all that.  If you get a Colt, do the prep cleaning you would do on any new gun, lube it up and shoot it. You are unlikely to have a failure not related to a mag or bad ammo.

factory 6920 is just fine without bolt swaps and polishing,  over 4k rounds without a failure in mine.

I would wholeheartedly skip the LMT enhanced BCG for a perfectly awesome Bravo Co. BCG.

But to each his own.

I concur with everyone's reply saying that no need for other fancy brand BCG, just lube the bolt well dripping wet and shoot the heck out of it.

Myself I never had any problems from my former and current Colt rifles and carbines in 39 years of owning them.

Just got my 9th Colt (6721 carbine) last month, and currently have three Colt, from my long experience with this fine brand I don't expect any surprises.

There was a member awhile back tested his HBAR rifle for 10K rounds without cleaning, just lube without a malfunction.
