I know you get what you pay for and believe me if I had a G to drop on an ACOG I would. However, I just finished my first AR build and went to the range I really like the Irons at 25 and 50 yards but at 100 id like to have some optics. Does anyone have any good things to say about the NC Star Mark III 2-7 scope? Or another cost effective reliable compact scope? Thanks a lot!

The only cheap scopes I would recommend would be the weaver v3 1-3, the Nikon prostaff line,  or the Burris FFII. Buy a good mount, that way you can use it when you upgrade the glass.

BTW nice rifle...

You might want to check out Miillet optics.  They have a scope that is 1-4 variable and is about 200.  Also, try looking at the American Defense  cantilever mount.  for about 150 give or take.  But as with all things shop around and find what you want.

Congratulations on the first build! Very nice rifle
As for the NC Star, I'd stay away. Just Google "NC Star junk" and you'll see what I mean.

Thanks!  Yea i am already thinking of saving for a 6.8! I shot my brother in laws 6.8 and beowulf yesterday and I really liked the 6.8.Yea i figured it was garbage. Gotta pay to play like anything else I suppose.

Nice looking rifle. That is really close to a build I would like to do in the future but I was going to use a pencil barrel instead (going to be the SO's rifle).

I can't speak for the NC Star stuff but I've got a Nikon Prostaff scope on one of my ARs and I've enjoyed it so far.

I don't know anything about the NC Star Mark III, but a buddy of mine has two, he loves them.  I recently put an NC Star Shooter II A.O. series on a Mauser .260 and it works great for the price.  Its definately something I would try out.

Nice rifle.

Kudos for learning to master your iron sights FIRST instead of jumping on the high ticket optic bandwagon before you have mastered basic irons.

Is that a 4x20 handle mount scope sitting on the bench? How did it work at 50 yards? Nice looking carbine. How do you like the Magpul MOE and CTR? I haven't found a need for a vertical grip yet, does it help?

Congratulations, and welcome! Keep the carry handle attached for now and become proficient with irons.

Yea im getting nice 3 and 4 round groups at 25 and 50 and doing ok at 100. Id just like a reliable cost effective scopet o put and and shoot a few rounds. As for that scope on the table its a POS I just used it to check out my groups after I shot. It will not hold zero for more than 10 rounds haha. We forgot to bring binoculars.

I like all the moe stuff. It is such great quality. I would expect this much quality for far more expensive piece's. As for the foregrip, yes it does help. I think it is all just personal preference though.
