Im kinda new to Ar's
Does the barrel Extension screw into the barrel or the upper reciever? And does the Barrel Extension determine weather or not it will have M4 feedramps? How hard is the Barrel Extension to seperate from the Barrel? Many Thanks |

1. Into the barrel, and then the assembly slip fits into the upper and is retained by a barrel nut
2. Yes, and the upper receiver as well is a part of this system 3. Very - need special tools to do correctly, and not something the normal home gunsmith should tinker with Hope this helps! |
| When you buy a barrel they set the headspace on it with the barrel extension in place. . . thats why goobers like you and me and everyone on ar15.com can build a rifle at their house. The barrel extension install is the real gunsmithing part of the build process. |

The barrel extension in an AR15 acts like bolt lug recesses in other firearms. Sooo, assuming a high degree in precision between bolt manufacturers (which does exist), once they headspace it with 1 new bolt, any other new bolt should be headspaced correctly with that barrel/barrel extension. |
