| I have a Bushmaster Optics Ready Carbine with a cut down gas block. I bought A VLTOR CASV-S rail system to put on it. I have installed the other CASV systems on my other rifles but they had more clearance for the handguard retainer behind the gas block. My question is, How is the Handguard retainer held to the gasblock/barrel is it a press fit? The reason I ask is I have to move the retainer back on the barrel to where the profile of the barrel is narrower so i can use a cutting wheel to remove it (Hopefully). I do not want to remove the perm. attached brake or the gas block. Thanks |

There is a step on the barrel where the handguard cap stops. The gas blocks butts up to that. With handguards off it should spin freely. Gas tube will prevent it spinning. OP- you can either grind it down or remove it. To remove it, drift out the gas tube pin, then take the pins out of your gas block and slide it forward. you can then access the cap and cut it off. |
