I've a friend who has a post ban ar in M4 configuation bought in 8-2004.  The collapsable stock is fixed and can't retract.  Is there a way to make it do so or does he have to replace it?  Thanks

I don't about DPMS for sure. The fixed collapsible stocks I have seen had a full length rifle buffer tube inside, I think.
