Starting with the MK12 concept, which modifications would
you make to build an accurate rifle for 500 yd shooting of handloads with heavy projectiles? Additional weight and length are acceptable. |
| Mod 0 or Mod 1? It's pretty damn good as it is. I would maybe go with an upgraded trigger such as a geisselle 2-stage, a sierra precision SPR grip, and a PRS stock, or some sort of adjustable cheek-weld stock. The 18" barrel is just fine, and if you get a properly spec'd and turned douglas blank, it will be just as good as anything else. Maybe get an 18" WOA stainless barrel, but I dont even think thats much better... |

yesterday, with my mk12mod0 clone at 300m, using Gp90 ammo, I made a 5 shot group within 2.5 inches, which is sub MOA... conditions were good.
Seems accurate enough to me ! (barrel is a colt Match HBAR 1/7 that was shortened to 18", trigger is standard, with a home trigger job, glass was a 3.5-10x40mm) |
