Any advice for barrell length for varmint/range/ and fun? Would a 20 " suit me best?
How much more accurate are the mid -long range (24) barrell than say a 16. Does it make a difference or is it just a change in velocity (fps) |

What length do you want? There are plenty of barrels from 16" to 24" that will shoot moa, if not better. |

Like DrBackJack said, the accuracy doesn't depend on the length exactly (shorter barrels are stiffer), but you lose velocity for each inch subtracted. Someone had a table that showed the velocity differences between each barrel length. IIRC, the difference between a 16 and 20" barrel averaged around 175fps.
I can tell you that shooting factory 55fmjbt in my 16" gives an impressive muzzle blast/report compared to a 20". |
