need some advice, before I buy the BCG making my rifle complete, or having enough parts to in my apartment to make a complete rifle, I need to weld on a brake, I would like the stay with the standard A2 looking style, but a few of the troy brakes are starting to catch my eye, anyone have the Midevil brake? or the Claymore?? seems to me the claymore isnt really a brake as it looks to still push all the gases outward, any feed back is welcome, like i said i have to weld this sucker on there so I want nothing but the best.... It has to be a Brake, i dont want brake/FH or somthing, As im trying to make a NYS compliant rifle and dont wanna end up ataching somthing that isnt AWB compliant.. and yes i will post on my Home town forums aswell, but i would like pull from a larger group of ppl as us new yorkers cant really run a brake and test it, then try another one, ect.. (legally anyway).. thanks for the help... BTW is it Break or Brake??? ive seen them both in use, and can see how either can work (break in the barrel lettting the gasses out, or a brake to stop the rise
)

edited title to correct spelling of "brake" so it shows up in search-Aimless

OP said no FH capability on his rifle. I have a TTO on my 6920(same as the FSC556 but without FH tines) but pinning the TTO won't make a 14.5" non-NFA. I don't have much input on the Troy brake but there are many types of brakes out there to look at. Good luck!

+1
While it's definitely not cheap, it gets great reviews and I'm very happy with it on my LMT 14.5" which allows me to shoot it back in NJ if I ever have the need/desire.

If you really want to stick with an A2 style brake, there is the RRA military brake which I had on my first AR in NJ.

As for your last question "brake vs break?" It is brake as in "putting the brakes on."

ETA: The FSC556 is AWB compliant as per the ATF.

The PWS FSC556 is ban compliant.

The ATF has a letter stating that it's legal

OP is concerned with remaining compliant.  There is a letter from BATFE stating that the FSC556 is not a FH and is compliant.  It doesn't get much clearer than that.

OP- is this for a 14.5?
If so I have some extended A-2 looking brakes that would be perfect. If interested contact me.

If it's for a 16" you can use the Branson, it looks just like an A-2 but offers no flash suppresion. However it isn't long enough to be used on a 14.5" bbl.

Both are alot cheaper than the PWS.

The barrel is not a 14.5, Just a 16 in barrel and it came with the A2 on it, so it needs to get replaced ASAP... haha and I apologize for my punctuation. spelling and all that happy horse shit, as I see one person pointed out that, I had the worlds record for longest run on sentence.( I tend to spend more time in the woods, or shooting then in a class room). Anyhoo, thanks for the Sugestions I wish i could get a build permit or somthing that would allow me to try out different brakes before I weld one on, as now its pretty much me trusting others advice....

DTNC, PWS556, Miculek are all good brakes that are NY legal.

After watching THIS I Thinks its a done deal... :) Am I aloud to hijack my own thread and ask what the best way to perm attach this sucker is?? silver solder or weld?? I see they have the Pinned version available, how dose that work?? would you still thread it on, and dose it have a spot for a blind pin at the 6'oclock, or dose is just slip on?.. Im confused, I can always just weld it on there, but my AKS are done this way and it just looks like hell.... When I say the best way, I mean the best do it yourself way Im not gonna ship this barrel out, or pay some one to do it. I just need to know the basics, Like will heating your barrel and the muzzle brake to 1100f for the SIlver Solder to bond hurt anything??

You've been given answers to the same question many times. If something is worth doing, it's worth doing right. Send it to ADCO and have them do. Professional and quality work.

Iv never taken any of my vehicles to shop for repairs, nor paid anyone to fix anything around the house ( infact ppl pay me for that sorta thing ) so why would I ship my upper to a company when this is something well within capabilities??? Nothing against them by the way I have herd they do amazing work, and have seen pics too, However unless its somthing like open heart surgery, or somthing that involves rocket engeniering, Im pretty sure i can do it, if not learn in the proccess, do better the next time :) LIke i said nothing against ADCO im just the do it your self type, I broke that rule about 8 months back, and in about three weeks ill have a son. so I think I learned my lesson
