I have been looking at butt stocks for my zombie killer. I am looking at the Vltor Emod, and pretty much am leaning toward it. My question is, what is the difference between the commercial, and the military version. They both have the same price tag. My rifle currently has a carbine buffer and spring. Is that the difference? Are commercial and mil buffer tubes different sizes?

I am of the understanding that the stock comes as is without buffer kit. Is that correct? Also if any of you guys has one of these puppies, please let me know what you think. I plan to put it on my new Bushmaster ORC. Thanks

commercial vs. milspec refers to the diameter of the buffer tube itself. What manufacture is your rifle? With that info someone should be able to tell you what model you need.

Yes, the tubes are different. Find out which one you have, and get a stock to match.

milspec tube = 1.148" od, commercial =1.168" od. They are different. You will need to match your receiver extension with the buttstock.

You can normally tell if the tube is commercial by taking off the buttstock,if it is commercial it will have a slant or angle at the bottom on the end.If it is mil spec it will be flat on the end.

Thanks for the info guys. The diagram makes the difference quite clear. Now if I can figure out how to remove the butt stock

Extend the stock all the way out. Pull the adjusting lever stright away from the stck body then slide off.

Not all commercial tubes have angled aft ends.
