Is it possible for an ar-15 to fire out of battery? I'm going to build a Freinkenstien, using all kinds of parts and pieces... It going boom! when it's not suppose to worries me.

Thanks

I mean, if I don't do something right. Can a round explode before it gets into the barrel? Or does it have to be locked into the barrel before it can shoot.

a round could fire out of battery  - the 'kaboom' - but in every case i've heard about, it has been ammo related, or user error (or both - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tWygoxV_ApM).  If you mess up putting the gun together, a function check will tell you.

Any thing CAN happen.

As was said most kabooms are ammo related.

Firing out of battery is in theory not posible in the AR15. For the firing pin to reach the primer the bolt must be rotated and locked into the barrel extention.

If you are using decent parts you should be gtg. Some fine running good shooting guns are frakenguns.

If your throwing Olyimpic, Blackthorn, Airsoft parts together your on your own.

So, use factory ammo. Got it. I just don't want a "Kaboom" to happen because of something I've done wrong. I think the first time I fire it, I'll stand behind a pine tree, and pull the trigger with my left hand!

no, not becuase of anything you did.  In fact the only part different than field stripping will be the foreward assist, ejection door, and lower(if you havent done one already, they are very simple)... and the barrel.  Personally Id have a reputable company or a TRUSTED gunsmith do the barrel and recheck headspace.  other than that you'll be good to go.

no need for a tree, haha, just make sure you installed everything.  Simple mistakes like leaving the buffer and spring out or the cam pin could cause a kaboom.  Feel better yet?
