Team,
I had a spot on my AR lower where there was a scratch that I tried to polish to lessen its appearance. During that attempt I polished the surrounding anodizing which left a shiney spot. . I tried following up with white then red scotch brite but I can not knock down the polished area. Is ther anyway to etch the surface to dull it back to original?

I was thinking Muriatic Acid or something along those lines.
Any Chemists out there?

Thanks, TC

PS- I'm not looking for sarcastic answers like I should have left the scratch alone, etc. Please keep the comments to helping not crystal clear hindsite.

don't use oven cleaner as this will strip most anodizing.  not sure what to use, I would send it of to be redone if it were me.

I used birchwood casey aluminum black but thats generally for small scratches and the color doesn't match up all the way. I think you will have to have it anodized in that area, real anodizing actually "grows" out of the aluminum.
