I am looking at the Adams Arms gas-piston kit,  It looks pretty good and the reviews seem good.

Anything on any other system?

also

I live in NJ so does anyone know how to take a pinned brake off?  (i want to put a Troy Medieval brake on anyway so damaging the old one doesnt matter)  or should i let a gunsmith do it?

There is a piston forum, you might be better suited asking the question there.

I don't know about any of the piston kits. If you have a barrel vise and a drill press you should be able to un-pin your MD.This may still damage the threads if the weld penetrated kinda deep. I've seen a post here where someone cut the MD in two or three places then basically pealed it away. I would just take it to a smith especially if you can't weld solder a new one on immediately after removal. If threaded barrels are a no-no in your situation consider removing it from the upper before you do anything.

Removing Pinned Flash Supressor 2/3 of the way down on the first page. Personaly I would let a smith do it.
