Is there a need to have a factory AR tuned by an armorer?  If so how do you find a good armorer?

There is no tuning on an AR. They are either put together right or wrong. The components that they are made of determines their quality and accuracy.

I'd say those statements are wrong. There are ample opportunities in any AR build for tweaking and fitting. It'll work without it, but things can be a lot smoother with it.

If you're talking about trigger work, etc. granted that will improve accuracy. But generally it's the barrel that determines that. You can tweak by replacing the barrel.

Function or reliability is one area, precision shot placement is quite another. These two often work against one another.

There are definate gains to be had from a well assembled and balanced rifle system.

Any decent AR will function and be reliable out of the box.  It's an AR, not a 1911.

Don't tell the folks at SAW that, the " Reliablity Package " ain't fer nothing.

I couldn't tell you but what you are looking to do doesn't require an armorer.

You can tune an AR but for the most part you don't other then maybe trigger work. That and maybe something like reaming a chamber out to a newer spec(ie reaming a 6.8 spc to the newer spc 2 spec). I've also seen some custom fitting done to make the upper and lower tighter.

You're really not going to be able to tune it for this.  The only thing I can think of off the cuff is a 5.56 chamber should yield more reliability than a .223 chamber given that the further leade gives more leway for a grain of sand or the like.  The M16/AR-15 platform is reliable enough if you're not the average dumba$$ who doesn't properly care for his rifle.  This from an ultra-anal Marine who views the general gun owning public as amateur dip$hits.  Sorry for the belligerance.  I'm drunk.

i.e. a piece of tarp strap, butterflied down the middle, stuck under the lug for the rear retaining pin with one side toward the buffer and the other on the bottom. by butterflied i mean cut in half, not all the way, to make an L shape. works great. almost as good as a 5 dollar V block
some of us are cheap here.

I first saw someone talking about this on here but since then I've seen one in person. People take jbweld or another compount and plase it along the top of the lower reciever. They let it harden and see if it makes it tigher. They keep doing it until it is. If they go to far they sand it down some. I've seen it done before painting a lower to clean it up. Seemed like a real waste of time but the guy wanted the upper and lower to be really tight.

Ask in the gulf states hometown forum. Tell us where you are located and we can help.
Most likely, you just need someone who can assemble everything.

Yeah I have an ARmalite and a Delton midlength on an Aero Precesion lower, I 'd really like someone to check the Delton over to see if I assembled it correctly and check the clearences and maybe do a little work on the trigger.

Articulate what you mean by "tuning" & why you would require an armorer or smith to complete this task for you?

As for tuning for reliability, the only things that come to mind would be making sure the carrier key is staked properly, adding an o-ring or extractor upgrade, and reaming to a 5.56 chamber if it is a .223 chamber.  Thinks like a chrome lined bore and chamber or M4 feed ramps don't hurt but I wouldn't consider those tuning, that is just buying the right parts to start with.  If you have a gas block held on with set screws instead of the taper pin standard front sight base then dimpling the barrel where the screws contact it and loctiting the set screws is helpful.
