Just got a bcg from bcm.  In the package a little black o-ring came with it.  Can anyone tell me what this is for?  Is it a spare part, or do I need to install it somewhere on my bcg? Sorry for the newbiness, this is my first ar

Pics will follow if there is confusion once I can figure it out

You remove the extractor from the bolt

place that rubber ring around the little spring on the little black pin on the extractor

fight it like hell to get the pin back in with that damn thing on there

shoot it till it breaks

ETA: only use it if you have problems with extraction, it is not necessary, and can actually cause problems in a rifle that works just fine without it.

Yup... Just keep it around in case you ever need it.  Got a few that've been in a spare parts bin for a year and a half or more waiting for that opportunity.  Hasn't happened yet.

I thought all the BC BCGs had the o-ring already installed?

I swear this should be a sticky. Probably the most often asked question on this board.

Nope, they don't install it because 99.9% of rifles don't need it.

Colt and Spikes are installed when they are built, even my DYNM had one pre installed when I got it. BCM is the only one I have ever received that came with it but not installed. Oh and that is the longest extractor spring I have ever seen, I suspect it is the wrong spring......
