I'm trying to decide on a 16" lightweight style upper to rplace my 20" HBAR.  Chrome-lined, carbine length.
Right now I'm looking at:
Del-ton
M&A
M1Sales
Bushmaster

Anyone have their favorite or have bad experiences?

Thanks

I bought a CMMG 14.5" lightweight upper for my wife's build a few years ago and after many thousand of rounds, it's been flawless. I'm not sure if they make them anymore but that might be something to check out.

I have the Bushmaster upper and it's VERY light.  A buddy of mine built a LW upper and said that there's noticeable muzzle flip.

I've had a 16" LW from MA for many years. No problems.

Model 1 has some pencil barrels and I like mine.

+1 on the Bushy Super Light.  Really, really nice!  Only thing to look out for is proper gas key staking, might need to give them another punch.

+1 on the Model 1. IT's not a pencil though as the GB is standard .750". In front of the handguard measures .550" and under measures .650". My Model 1 was $160 through Midway and I had it sent to ADCO for a cut down to 14.5" w/5C2 perm attached. Not much muzzle lift and if a tack driver.

I bought a MA LW upper for Ms Karma. It has made a great little carbine. 0 negative issues.
BK:American!

I just gave my son a carbine with the Model 1 sales lt. wt. barrel. It has about 2k rounds thru it with no problems other than it doesnt have a F marked front sight.
I had to get a .40 sight pin. And it goes over the ears. Thats why he got it. I just couldnt take the front sight height . I know anal, but it drove me nuts.

No worries with the FSB as mine was removed and a DD LoPro GB was installed inside a DD Lite 9.0.

From that list I would choose Bushy.

I personally like the 20" pencil barrel, a la retro A1 style.

Looking at your list, there isn't one that jumps out from the rest.  Go with which ever one will fit your budget, is in stock and has the characteristics that you like.

I'd keep the HBAR and send it ADCO and have them make into a Lt Wt 18"

I went with the Del-Ton 16" LW with A2 upper.  It's been good so far after a couple of cases of ammo.

If I had a do over, I'd get the flat top, chrome lining, and gas block with a decent rail.

My son and I have both used Model 1 kits and have been satisfied with them, though neither of us have used one of their LW setups.
