So I am in the process of building my first AR. I have owned a couple before but decided this time I was going to build the one I want, but I want a lot of things so I think that this my first build of many. I started out with a complete RRA lower with their collapsible stock. Then I added a VLTOR MUR upper w/forward assist. At this point I decided that I should wait awhile so that I don't impact my finances to bad during the build.........so the next day I bought a Troy 11" TRX Standard rail. Within hours I purchased a BCM gunfighter charging handle, a noveske 16" stainless barrel and a LMT BCG. I'm waiting for the barrel and BCG to arrive so that I can finish my build. I'll post pictures as soon as everything is here but till then a couple questions.
I hate my stock what would you guys recommend, preferably one that doesn't rattle around like my stock one, this is the first upgrade I plan on making? What do you think of the parts? Anything you would recommend replacing other than the stock? Just ordered a cheap A2 flash hider from the noveske website until I can figure out which one I want, any suggestions? I also plan on buying a set of flip up BUIS and a nice scope or red dot (havn't decided what exactly I want yet). I want to say thanks to everyone on this board you have all been very helpful whether you know it or not (I have been lurking for sometime). If you have any suggestions please let me know. If putting together the upper goes smooth I plan on building a few more. So far I am into this: Complete lower $260 MUR Upper $230 Charging handle $ 40 Rail $170 Barrel,Gas Tube/BCG $500 (thank you Equipment Exchange) Cheap A2 FH $ 9 Total $1209 well within my $700-$800 goal at the beginning.

| Sounds like you have good stuff where it counts. Stocks are a very personal thing. I'd guess you are not looking for a target style rifle, so I'd say my fav are the magpul ACS or the VLTOR stock. Both lock up nice and tight for me. I also like my magpul MOE stock on my KISS/light weight builds. Either one would fit the bill for you nicely I think. |
| I have been trying to decide over various Magpulls' and VLTOR's since I started this build. Gonna have to play with a few more before I make up my mind. I had originally wanted to do an 18" SPR noveske barrel but got the good deal on the 16" so I went with it. Is there a performance difference between the various flash suppressors/compensators? |
